Abstract

The diagnostic accuracy of stress echocardiography with dobutamine and dipyridamole was evaluated in 15 patients with stable effort angina who underwent coronary angiography, whose indication was not related to the objectives of this study. The general sensitivity of the stress echocardiography with dobutamine (100%) was higher than that of dipyridamole (77%). The specificity was 50% for both tests and the diagnostic accuracy was greater for dobutamine. The concordance for every vessel was also higher in the test with dobutamine as well as the index of mobility of the wall between rest and the stress peak. The fraction of ejection of the left ventricle decreased significantly during the test with dipyridamole and had an insignificant increase in the test with dobutamine. There were side effects with both drugs but none of them led to the suspension of the test.
