Abstract

Hypoplasia of the ascending aorta is a rare variant of left ventricular outflow obstruction. Its presentation as an isolated pathology is unusual, as it is more frequently accompanied by other congenital malformations that make it a complex condition. We report the follow-up of a 25-year-old pregnant woman with a previous diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy who was diagnosed with hypoplasia of the ascending aorta during gestation, accompanied by high aortic valve implantation, tetracuspid aorta and left ventricular hypertrophy. She was followed up and evaluated by electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance. The objective was to present the satisfactory results of the interdisciplinary management and follow-up during pregnancy, delivery and puerperium of a high cardiovascular risk patient with hypoplasia of the ascending aorta.
