Abstract

The persistence of the left superior cava vein constitutes the congenital vascular anomaly more frequent. It is found in 3% of healthy subjects and up to 10% of those with congenital heart disease. In 90% of cases coexists with the right superior cava vein and usually drains in the right atrium through the coronary sinus. Its finding is usually accidental during the implantation of a cardiac stimulation system, and although it does not prevent it, it may suppose an added complexity and an increased risk of complications. The case of a patient is presented with the diagnosis of high-grade atrioventricular block to which a DDD bicameral pacemaker was successfully implanted through a persistent left superior cava vein.
