Use of miseldipine in myocardial perfusion imaging with Tc99m Tetrofosmin for viability diagnosis

With the objective of finding out if viability diagnosis based on a techtenium-labelled radiopharmaceutical may be made, myocardial perfusion imaging Tc99-Tetrofosmin in work/ rest protocole was performed on 25 patients with previous myocardial infarction and also, one third of them was injected the radiopharmaceutical 55 minutes after oral administration of 5mg of nisoldipine, which is a coronary vasodilator dihydropiridine. The outcome of tetrofosmin-niseldipine analysis was compared with myocardial perfusion imaging with Thalium performed on the same patients 20-35 days after the first test. The viability diagnosis was based on the increase of radiopharmaceutical uptake within the infarction area after nisoldipine administration in the case of tetrofosmin, and after Thalium reinjection. Out of 25 patients in the study, 18 showed viability images with Thalium reinjection and 17 with tetrofosmin (after nisoldipine). The correlation between both methods was 96 % proving that nisoldipine is an alternative for determining myocardial viability.Downloads
