Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in adults worldwide in postmenopausal women and the incidence increases. The diagnosis of cardiac syndrome X (angina with ST segment depression and epicardial coronary arteries without significant lesions), more common in women, it is usually excluded. Demonstrate that the patient has ischemia requires a more detailed analysis than simply considering the anatomical state of the coronary by angiography. tests for detection of ischemia, with or without image, as part of the diagnosis of syndrome X, where microvascular dysfunction is an important pathophysiological mechanism are presented. It is concluded that X syndrome should be considered as an entity whose prognosis is not benign, which should be considered imaging techniques that allow a demonstration of functionally significant ischemia to support the diagnosis and allow building adequate therapeutic behavior.
